Vodafone Fiji 7s coach Gareth Baber has identified some players at the recent Fiji Bitter Marist tournament who may be called into the squad after the Hong Kong and Singapore tournaments.
Speaking after the final on Saturday, Baber says these players need proper training and will need some time before they put on the national jumper.
“My thought process is that those players who have put their hands up here, I want to see them in the squads in the future.
We leave for Hong Kong in three days’ time.
We don’t expect these players to turn around and do something in Hong Kong, it’s going to be very difficult.”
The Fiji 7s team leaves for Hong Kong on Thursday for the tournament which will be played next weekend.
In Hong Kong, Fiji is pooled with New Zealand, Wales and Japan.
