The Fiji Law Society says it’s essential the apparatus of law and legitimate procedure is kept up amidst emergencies like Covid-19.

The general public president Laurel Vaurasi was talking after difficulties from the administration over a decision by the Nadi Magistrates Court, which cleared Ravin Lal and Shalvin Chand on check in time penetrates.

She said “Fiji’s arrangement of equity accommodates fair treatment to be followed.”

The Fiji Times reports Ms Vaurasi saying the Magistrate’s choice, regardless of whether right or not, was dependent upon an intrigue procedure inside a multi day timeframe.

She said this is “the fitting discussion where the rightness of the choice is to be considered is the High Court, should the indictment decide to request”.

On Thursday the officer’s decision was put aside by the acting Chief Justice Kamal Kumar.
