FICAC has today confirmed they have not received any complaints regarding the allegations against former Land Transport Authority board members and employees who were behind the issuing of taxi permits and PSV permits to themselves or their family members.
Attorney General and Minister for Anti-Corruption Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum had given the current LTA board 3 months earlier this year to conduct an inquiry and find out how many former board members and employees or their family members were involved in this.
LTA’s Chairman Vijay Maharaj said in early May that they have already handed over a report to Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.
Maharaj has not revealed any further information.
Sayed-Khaiyum had written to Vijay Maharaj and Transport Minister Parveen Bala, in his capacity as the Minister responsible for Justice and Anti‑Corruption, to ensure that immediate action is taken.
Sayed-Khaiyum highlighted that a number of the PSV licences and permits were acquired by these employees and board members while holding office.
Maharaj confirms that they got all the current board members and employees to sign statutory declarations.
Fijivillage is now trying to find out whether the investigation report will be handed to FICAC to investigate some former board members and employees.
