Fiji: NZ Based Hoyt and Prasad to Join National Team

New Zealand based James Hoyt and Rinal Prasad will join the Vodafone Fiji National team squad this Sunday in preparation for the FIFA World Cup Russia Qualifiers 2018-OFC Stage 3.

Fiji Football Association acting vice president and national team director Tarunesh Reddy confirmed that the duo have been called into the national squad by the Fijian coach Christhope Gamel.

“Yes we approached them after watching their games and they have agreed to be part of the national team,” Tarunesh said. Reddy said they had some issues with their work commitment but it has been sorted out and they will came this weekend.

“They had their work commitments but thanks to Neelesh Ram of Ram’s Cleaning Services and Sachin Dutt of New Zealand Fiji Football Association for assisting in getting their release.”

He said they were sponsored by Ram’s Cleaning Services to make their way to Fiji. They would be paid as same as others players whilst in they are camp for the duration of their campaign with no additional cost to Fiji FA.

“The loss of income for them while away from New Zealand has been looked after by Ram’s Cleaning Services but they will get the allowance in camp as the same as other players,” he said.

James Hoyt is a son of former Ba and National rep Ratu Mudu Hoyte is no stranger to Fiji Football as he was part of Ba team during the OFC Champions League few seasons ago.

He is a midfielder and currently plays for Tasman FC in New Zealand while Prasad is a former National U-20 rep and Ba rep who plays for Franklin FC.

They both play for champion side Team Nadi in the NZFFI competitions.

Fiji plays New Zealand in their opening match on Saturday 25 March at 1pm at Churchill Park in Lautoka.
