Fiji pulled out the name of Inoke Kubuabola for the situation of Pacific Islands Forum Secretary General, as the nation would not like to put its advantage first.

Minster for Infrastructure Jone Usumate has uncovered this in Parliament, saying Fiji will consistently put the predicament of the Pacific first.

Previous Cook Islands Prime Minister, Henry Puna, was chosen for the position.

“We are in incredible inconveniences in the Pacific at this point. We have environmental change, we have these things occurring around us. We have seen part of the provincial plans we needed for the Pacific, presently destined to realization, Pacific arrangement and these things, they come up and they vanish. So what Fiji push for, was to go for the most commendable individual to fill this job. That is the thing that we needed, all other countries was pushing for its own applicant, Fiji took a chief stand. Our stand is to go for the most worthy individual and as result when different nations didn’t proceed with that move, we chose to pull out our up-and-comer.”

The active Secretary General is Papua New Guinea’s Dame Meg-Taylor.
