“Generally people are advocating on the decrease of bus fares and there are certain people who are happy with the current service. Most people are saying that the bus service needs to improve, if there will be an increase in the cost of bus service.”

The independent Bus Fare Review Committee met with market vendors and bus drivers in Labasa to get their views on the current bus fare structure.

“I walked through the busy Labasa municipal market and the bus station to collect the views of the public,” he said.

He urged members of the public to make their voice count for the new bus fare structure that will be implemented early next year.

Submissions close on December 14, 2017.

As of November 4, the Independent Bus Review Committee has received 5120 submissions through text, emails and written.

“We have received 300 emails and as till Saturday we received about 4800 text messages and 20 written submissions and that was through posted mail,” he added.

The Review was held at Labasa College, till Saturday.
