Updated: 6:34am – A man pleaded not guilty in the Suva High Court on Monday to all five counts of rape and two counts of sexual assault laid against him.
On the first count of sexual assault, between January 1, 2015 and December 31, 2015 the accused Lenaitasi Nakaka is alleged to have unlawfully assaulted the complainant by touching her private parts and kissing her lips.
On the second count of sexual assault he allegedly sexually assaulted the complainant by kissing her breast and her body.
For the five counts of rape Nakaka is alleged to have had unlawful carnal knowledge of the complainant in Nakasi on different occasions between December 25, 2016 and June 16 this year.
He denied all seven counts against him.
Prosecutor of the Director of Public Prosecution Kimberley Semisi appeared for the State and was given 14 days to settle any pending matters regarding the substantive file.
Nakaka also sought bail from the Court and was told to re-appear on October 20 for his bail hearing.
The defence counsel informed the court that they have filed supplementary affidavits in relation to the accused’s bail application.
Nakaka was further remanded in custody.
