Police have named the two people who died in a double homicide in the Auckland suburb of Epsom on Friday.

They were a couple Herman Bangera, 60, and Elizabeth Bangera, 55. They were cut and later passed on in a home on The Drive soon after 11:30am.

A third individual, accepted to be their child, was taken to medical clinic with basic wounds.

On Sunday, Detective Inspector Scott Beard of Auckland City Police affirmed it was a family hurt related occurrence.

“A man, who is identified with the couple, is as yet in a basic yet stable condition in Auckland Hospital,” he said.

“He stays under police watch and at this stage police are not looking for any other individual in association with this episode.”

The man will be met by police when his condition permits. No charges have been laid at this stage.

A fourth individual identified with the occurrence was likewise taken to clinic on Friday. They were a nearby family companion who had been called to the house not long before the occurrence occurred. Det Insp Beard says they endured shallow wounds and are in stun.

A scene assessment is progressing and the examination group is proceeding to address individuals connected to the family.

“Police wish to thank those individuals from the public who have given data to help,” Det Insp Beard says.

“Our considerations and feelings are with the families and companions of those associated with this grievous episode.”
