Updated: 6:41am – A drone flying at 300 metres has interfered with a flight arriving at Auckland Airport, police say.

The incident prompted a warning from police over civil aviation regulations on drones.

They said the incident happened about 9pm yesterday. It was followed by a second incident, about 40 minutes later, involving another drone flying at a height of more than 200m.

Police issued a warning reminding drone operators of civil aviation rules, which state drones are not to be flown at night, must not go higher than 120m and must have air-traffic control permission to fly in a controlled airspace.

Police have refused to give further information about last night’s incidents.
