UPDATED: 8:26am – Police attended a fatal crash in Levin overnight, but cannot confirm how many people have died.
A car drove into the back of a large truck and trailer unit that was parked on the side of Cambridge Street in the Horowhenua town shortly after midnight.

The car burst into flames, and engulfed both the car and truck and trailer unit, killing the people in the car, police said. There was noone in the truck.
Police were working to confirm how many people were in the car at the time of the crash. The Serious Crash Unit and other specialist staff are still at the scene.
