FICAC lodges appeal with Suva High Court against the judgement of acquitting Dr Reddy

Updated: 7:35am – FICAC has lodged an appeal with the High Court of Suva against the judgement of the Chief Magistrate Usaia Ratuvili acquitting the parliamentarian Doctor Mahendra Reddy of one count of bribery and one count of undue influence.

FICAC has confirmed that it has appealed on 8 grounds and now awaits the notice from the High Court for the matter to be heard.

Meanwhile Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama is yet to confirm whether former Minister for Education, Doctor Mahendra Reddy will get his ministerial portfolio again.

Fijivillage has sent questions to Bainimarama however he is yet to respond.

Dr Reddy had said in a statement that he now wishes to return to his ministerial portfolio to continue the work that they have been doing after he was acquitted of his charges last Friday.

Dr Reddy said he will wait for the Prime Minister to make the formal announcement of reinstatement, as agreed at the time of his stand‑down from the ministerial position.
