Fiji: Baber names best 13 players for Las Vegas 7s

Vodafone Fiji 7s coach Gareth Baber has named his best 13 players to represent Fiji at this weekend’s Las Vegas 7s.

They are Nemani Nagusa, Sevuloni Mocenacagi, Kalione Nasoko, Apisai Domolailai, Masivesi Dakuwaqa, Mesulame Kunavula, Osea Kolinisau, Vatemo Ravouvou, Jerry Tuwai, Samisoni Viriviri, Joeli Lutumailagi, Waisea Nacuqu and Alivereti Veitokani.

Captain Osea Kolinisau says this tournament is special for them as it marks their comeback victory against Australia in the final last year as they dedicated their win to those who were affected by Tropical Cyclone Winston.

Barring any upsets, Fiji is expected to meet either Canada, Wales or France in the quarter finals, we will meet England in the semifinals and South Africa or New Zealand in the Medal Final.

Meanwhile the New Zealand men’s sevens team have lost skipper Scott Curry to a concussion.

Former skipper DJ Forbes will take over the leadership role.

Fiji will take on Japan at 12.09pm today in the first pool match.

We will take on Scotland at 3.08pm while Fiji plays its final pool match against Australia at 9.50am tomorrow.

The Medal quarter finals start at 4.16pm tomorrow, the semis will be held at 9.44am on Monday while the final will kick off at 1pm Monday.
