His car has been impounded.

Eleven drivers were caught on the Waikato Expressway travelling faster than 130km/h yesterday.

As police were talking to the man another vehicle was clocked travelling at 184km an hour in the other direction.

Director of road safety charity Brake, Caroline Perry, said the chances of surviving a crash at such a speed are minimal.

“We would like to see harsher penalties for speeding drivers travelling a long way over the speed limit and putting lives at risk.”

Police said 11 drivers were caught on the Waikato Expressway travelling faster than 130km an hour yesterday.

Police said the speeds “defy logic”.
