Two people have died following a two-car collision on the Wellington Urban Motorway

Police were made aware of the accident on the flyover between the Molesworth St entrance and the Aotea Quay entrance at about 4.20am.

The two individuals were going in a similar vehicle and passed on at the scene.

Police said fundamental data proposed the vehicle was voyaging southward in a northward path when the impact happened.

The two individuals in the subsequent vehicle, which was voyaging northward, supported genuine wounds.

The genuine accident unit is looking at the scene and this segment of the metropolitan motorway is relied upon to be shut for certain hours.

SH1 northward paths are shut before Aotea Quay, including the Arras and Terrace burrows.

Redirections are set up for northward traffic at the Tinakori Rd exit ramp and admittance to the motorway is shut at Molesworth St and Tinakori Rd.

Drivers voyaging southward into Wellington are approached to go with care particularly while going past the accident site.
