NZFFI : Defending champions Team Nadi thrash Avondale Nasinu

Updated: 7:35am – Defending champions Team Nadi sent out a strong warning to other teams in the 11th NZFFI IDC after they thrashed Avondale Nasinu 7 goals to nil in their opening pool match yesterday at Bill McKinlay Park.

A huge crowd turned up to witness the match dubbed as one of the most entertaining matches of the tournament.

The Josaia Bukalidi coached side had the services of Fijian Internationals Samuela Kautoga and Dave Radrigai whereas Avondale Nasinu included Nadi rep William Valentine in their lineup.

The match started off in a high tempo as both teams applied pressure but it was James Hoyt who got Nadi into the score board with a well timed finish. Rinal Prasad added another goal just before halftime as Nadi went into half time leading 2-0.

Team Nadi came out firing in the second half and scored 5 unanswered goals to Adam Dickinson, Chris Bale and Andrew Abba.

Team Nadi Manager Kartik Reddy in an exclusive interview with NZ Fiji Times thanked his team for a good performance against a side which included few former A-League players and said that the team will now forget about their match against Avondale Nasinu and looked forward to their next match against Lami.

In other results of matches played yesterday Naitasiri thrashed Suva 9nil, Lautoka beat Labasa 5nil and Rewa defeated Rakiraki 5-2.
