Updated: 7:00am – The Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s team has won the Singapore 7s in style after defeating Australia 28-22 in the final and also take the lead in the World Sevens Series for the first time this season.

Naduva showed his speed and great composure as he combined with Amenoni Nasilasila to score the last try.

Both teams scored two tries each in the first half with Player of the final and playmaker Waisea Nacuqu scoring two converted tries as Fiji took an early 14-10 lead in the first half.

Fiji started the second half well with a quick try to captain Jerry Tuwai extending the lead to 21-10 before Australia capitalized on Fiji’s mistakes to score two quick tries and took the lead to 22-21.

Similar to the semifinal tough battle against South Africa, fans were once again treated to a classy finish with Fiji controlling possession in the dying minutes before Amenoni Nasilasila gave enough space to Naduva to showcase his speed to the try line.

Fiji now leads the World Sevens Series overall points table with 145 points while South Africa has dropped to second place with 141 points.

New Zealand still in third place with 120 pints while Australia is in fourth place with 108 points.

This is also our fourth tournament win this season with Hamilton, Vancouver, Hong Kong and now Singapore all in the bag.

The next tournament will be held in London on the 2nd and the 3rd of June while the final tournament will be held in Paris on the 9th and 10th of June.
