Fijian wonder boy Roy Krishna says he is excited and looking forward for the match against New Zealand the Vodafone Fiji national side when they play New Zealand in a 2018 FIFA World Cup World Cup Qualifiers-OFC Stage 3 match this Saturday.
Krishna who joined the national side on Monday believes Fiji said he was happy to be part of the team again in this qualification.
“I am happy to be back home again and play for my country, “Krishna said.
Krishna said he had gone through some training sessions with the boys and the new coach and was happy to see some old and new players and getting to style the coach wants him to play.
“Yes I have gone through some sessions of training with boys and the new coach and I am still learning the way the coach wants me to play, “said Roy.
He said he had no difficulties in training because he had played with some of the players.
“Everything is good at training and I am getting used to the way the coach wants me to play and it is easy for me to gel well because I know most of these players which makes my work easier, “Krishna said.
Krishna says they expect New Zealand to play possession based football and they will have to counter that by being patient and taking their chances when it comes.
“I have played against most of New Zealand players and I know they are tough but I am confident with the set of boys we have in the squad will give them a good run for their money.”
Meanwhile coach Christophe Gamel will be naming his final squad tonight at FFA Academy in Ba.
He said he would choose players who could fit in his system.
“I now have the whole squad. I gave rest to some players over the weekend which is important because some of them have played three games in a week. A full squad doesn’t mean I have the full quality. You only understand what you want. From now I just want to work well with them for the given days before Saturday,”Gamel said.
“I hope to develop the finishing. We might not have much action in-front of goal on match day but I want them to play the game, enjoy the game as it is a fantastic game and not only defend.”
He said -“I’m confident my bula boys will be able to do it, they will also be under pressure whether they can do it or not but we need the public to come and support the boys to put them in a good mood so that they can play well and I’m sure they will do their best and play to their full potential.
The Fijians will play New Zealand at 1pm this Saturday at Churchill Park and then the two teams will then travel to Wellington and play in the second leg at 6.35pm next Tuesday at Westpac Stadium.
